Community around the world
The Tamil community around the world consists of a population of 76 million people. The concentration of this ethnic group is most prominent in Sri Lanka, India, Mauritius, Singapore, Malaysia but also Canada, Reunion islands and South Africa. Archeologists argue that artifacts from excavated caves can be traced back to more than 4000 years ago. Sangam legends show ten thousand of ongoing literary activity during three Sangams and agricultural evidence dating 3rd century BCE-thus all substantiating the antiquity of Tamil civilization.
